Mawaru Penguindrum 16 ~ Surreal Humor

This pretty much sums up this episode.

The past two episodes of Mawaru Penguindrum have become very intriguing, focusing on Yuri’s and Masako’s background. What I noticed is that there seems to be a heavy art theme in these episodes, with Yuri’s background involving sculptures and divine beauty. Masako’s background, however, invokes surrealism for me with all the elements of this art movement present in this episode in one way or another. Here, we shall examine the elements of this episode that led me to believe that this episode is heavily surreal-themed, though one element, non sequitur, is more prominent here and I will explain this element more in-depth than the other elements of surrealism.

Mawaru Penguindrum 15 ~ The Sin of Ugliness

Yuri in 2nd OP

Tabuki in 2nd OP

Momoka in 2nd OP

With the latest episode, we now have a new nice opening. There have been some new changes, with Momoka being in it briefly. Of course, the OP still hides the mysteries of Mawaru Penguindrum, but we can be sure that Momoka and her diary will become even more central and integral to the series from here on. But, here in this post I shall briefly share my thoughts on a different theme: beauty.

Mawaru Penguindrum 13 ~ Yin & Yang + Wrap-up of Mary Had a Little Lamb

Sanetoshi

Last we saw, Sanetoshi made his appearance...

Well, never thought that I would be back again writing another post about Mawaru Penguindrum on impulse. I’m losing precious sleep just by writing this post… Oh well, might as well get it all out since I do have some brief thoughts to share. I’d like to point out another interesting concept brought up by Masako in this episode, yin and yang, along with a wrap-up of the Mary Had a Little Lamb nursery rhyme that I talked about in my previous post.

Sengoku Otome 07 ~ Yuri!?

The beginning of yuri!

Well, this particular episode of Sengoku Otome ~Momoiro Paradox~ had me laughing so hard that I could barely breathe, with all the quirks and antics of the turned-actresses! First off, Nobunaga, Mitsuhide, and Hideyoshi are starting to brainstorm for a yearly event for the people of the province. Both Nobunaga and Mitsuhide initially think of a miko dance, but Hideyoshi offers her suggestion: a play for the people. Nobunaga is very interested, and so decides to make Hideyoshi in charge of the play and the event. From there on, the hilarity and yuri drama ensues…

Hanasaku Iroha 08 ~ Things are getting serious now…

First off, you may have noticed that I’ve been revamping my blog with a new layout. I am extremely satisfied with it, and I intend to have this layout become possibly permanent. I’ve also added some new pages, so check them out if you like!

Well, onto episode 8 of Hanasaku Iroha! In this episode, the plot is starting to really ramp up, with large groups of customers coming into Kissuiso. The manager has also succumbed and forced to go to the hospital at this critical moment. On top of that, Ko-chan is coming to see Ohana, who still does not know about his impeding visit. Of course, this episode was not without some minor comedic relief…

Riiiiight. Keep dreaming...

In order to combat against the dire situation, the young master foolishly calls in Takako-san to help them (oh no!). Takako-san, with a glint in her eye, affirms that there must be some magazine reporters who are in disguise amongst the guests. After all, why would there be so many customers at this time when there usually are so few customers? Takako-san sends Jiroumaru-san to scout out the guests…

Are you sure you got the wrong room, hmm? *Raises eyebrow*

After scouting out the prospective guests, Takako-san tells Ren-san to cook his best for the most likely guests, much to his dismay…

Nya?

And then there’s Ohana, who steps in and takes charge in accordance with her grandmother’s wishes. Ohana believes that all the customers should be treated equally, and she recruits Nako, who had the day off, to help. Next, she races all the way to the city to retrieve Tohru-san, who is attending a wedding in the city. The episode then cuts off with Ohana peeking into a ballroom, searching for Tohru-san. Next episode, we shall see what happens in Kissuiso, but I’m really dying to see Ohana and Ko-chan’s meeting. Ah well, we’ll have to wait, so here’s a nice wallpaper!

Hidan no Aria 02-06 ~ I’m Back!

Photobucket

After taking care of numerous business such as putting stuff away into storage, last minute meetings with professors, taking a long, enjoyable first class flight (that’s right, you read it correctly, 1st class! Be jealous!), unpacking and packing for summer school in Seattle, backing up, upgrading, and restoring my laptop, and taking my first foray into the world of visual novels (more on that later), I am finally back and ready to talk about my ephemeral dreams and thoughts about anime thus far. First up is a quick review of the latest episodes of Hidan no Aria, which I have neglected for much far too long.

C – The Money of Soul and Possibility Control 01-03 ~ Long Title…

Photobucket

Hello, everyone. I know that I should be studying for finals (not that I need to do since they’ll be a cinch…), but I wanted to talk about a very interesting spring anime series that I watched recently after getting some precious free time, C – The Money of Soul and Possibility Control, a very unique anime. The synopsis:

The Japanese government was rescued from the brink of financial collapse by the Sovereign Wealth Fund. For its citizens, however, life has not improved, and unemployment, crime, suicide, and despair are rampant. Kimimaro, raised by his maternal grandmother after the disappearance of his father and the death of his mother, is a scholarship student whose only dream is to avoid all this and live a stable life. One day, however, he meets a man who offers him a large sum of money if he’ll agree to pay it back. From then on his fate is radically altered as he’s drawn into a mysterious area known as “The Financial District.”
